Wrong Items in Order | Panera Bread review from Morton Grove, Illinois

3.8
Details
I walked into a very empty Panera to order a chicken noodle bread bowl. There was only one other customer there. I ordered my food, just the bread bowl- no drink or anything. The cashier was very nice. I went to stand near the pick up station at the counter and the lady asked if my food was indeed my order. She showed me my receipt and I claimed my food. When I got home, I opened my bag and was greeted with a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup, which I am allergic to, so I could not just eat what they gave me. This is not the first time I have been given a wrong order at Panera, but usually I eat there so I can exchange the food. I love the food, but oftentimes the service is bad, and its not like the restaurant was outrageously busy, giving them more opportunities to mess up my order.

Lack of customer focus | Panera Bread review from Hendersonville, Tennessee

2.1
Details
A group of about 10 friends and I meet at the Hendersonville, TN Panera location most mornings. At least one other larger group and several other individuals have moved to Starbucks because of the poor customer focus here. We have been loyal to this Panera location since it first opened several years ago and have seen the progression through several store managers. The customer focus has steadily declined over time. Coffee urns are left empty, or often near-cold, often with grounds in the coffee. Often the order station is unattended, so after literally 2 or more minutes I have to get my own cup, sit with my friends, and come back to the counter later when someone is there. All this, while presumably non-cash register employees pass by without any acknowledgement or concern. Sometimes the lines sometimes stretch almost to the entrance, with one or two registers open and other employees standing around talking with no concern. The drive through often gets the order wrong. This happened so often, my Wife and I started keeping track. The order is wrong fully 50% of the time. Sometimes it's just something other than what we ordered, which isn't so bad. Sometimes we are shorted one of the entrees, which is more of a problem. There is little customer focus and no sense of urgency whatsoever. My perception of the root issue is that they seem to be promoting from within. That is okay when the location culture is customer focused. But in this case, new employees just keep learning the wrong way to do things, then they eventually get promoted to Manager. Clearly, whomever is managing the region (or perhaps it goes higher than that) needs at least mentoring. It's sad because of all the corporate effort going into the brand and this location will eventually close due to loosing business, yet corporate will never know why. I have no interest in recovering some loss here. I only want to help the company get focused. Unfortunately, the official Panera customer service form does not work (the Next button does not work and the Choose Topic drop-down is empty), so this site is the next alternative. I don't like posting complaints in the open, as that does not give the company the opportunity to fix the problem prior to the negative PR.

Panera Bread - Bread Review from Henderson, Nevada

Details
I love panera bread but this evening has changed my perspective. Not only was the restaurant dirty they were out of bread....BREAD?! It's a bread company. When asked about the teas we were told they didn't have any. The food was horrible. Usually the food is outstanding but today it tasted like yesterday's leftovers. Very, very disappointed. I don't think my family and I will be eating here again.

You people have to learn. These are rules and charges set up by corporate.

There are food costs that managers have to work by so they don't get demoted or fired. If this guy gave you your sauce and caught on camera or some other way, he would be disciplined. Why do you have to insist on putting peoples jobs in jeopardy just because you want something free. Pay the 50 cents or a dollar and quit putting peoples jobs in jeopardy.

If you have a problem like this, take it up with corporate or the owners who make these upcharges. 99% of the time, the employee at the store has nothing to do with it.

Panera Bread - Customer Care Review from New York, New York

I visited panera bread island park #4665 on my birthday. The sales lady refused to let me order croissant with avocado. Said I had to have the turkey. I tried to explain I have an illness. She kept saying no ordering off the menu even when the manager and other sales person said it was hidden menu and showed her the key for it.. Finally the manager did it for me but there was no croissant! I am a rewards customer. I used to eat at panera bread all the time. It was such a bad experience I am never going back and I am sure no one at panera will contact me because they dont care.

Panera Bread - Cookies Review from Livonia, Michigan

Please explain why and how Panera Bread operates without baked goods during their times of operation. We went to Panera Last week IN THE evening AND THE ONLY BAKED GOODS AVAILABLE WERE cookies. Again stopped by there at 7 p this evening and once again only cookies. So do you think we'll go there again? Would you? If you don't have the product keep your doors closed and save people the time and frustration.

Eat dinner at a normal time and you will find bread available. Why should they bake and throw out bread on the hope that you will stumble by? Wasteful.

Manager was horrible | Panera Bread review from Lakeland, Florida

I stopped by Panera Bread to grab a quick sandwich and sit on the patio. I had barely gotten my order and secured a table outside when a mother and her children showed up. They were the loudest, rudest people I have ever been unfortunate enough to sit near in a public area. The manager appeared and told one of the ladies sitting outside that if she didn't like it she could leave because it wasn't the policy of Panera to tell parents to control their children and she did so in a very rude and condescending manner. I gathered my sandwich and drink and left.

Mind your own business it is not you who she made the comment to. If they don't like children they should leave.

It is not their duty to tell a parent how to discipline their children.

Grow up. You are acting like a child yourself.

The woman and kids had as much right to be there as anybody else. The manager was right, actually I don't think any manager would say anything to a parent about controlling their kids unless the kids were doing something that was hazardous to them or others.

No, they don't. Their right to be there ended as soon as it started to interfere with the peaceful dining experience of others. THINK before you post!

You think before you post. The manager has no right telling a parent how to discipline their child.

That is the parents job. Grow up, just because someone has a different opinion from you does not mean you have to act like a three year old.

We eat at Panera Venice every day. Cleanliness getting poor...also some slackers. | Panera Bread review from Venice Gardens, Florida

Notice we almost always have to clean our table/ trash under tables / floor dirty. If PENNY IS THERE NOT SO!!!!! EXCELLENT...OVER TOP EMPLOYEE! Some slackers lately . Food is still good but lots of mistakes and kids with name tags hanging from hats etc. Can't get attention even if one asks for tables to be wiped! Sadly becoming NOT the Panera we know and love.We are a family of 2 and my grown daughter eats there Every day as her life is conducive to cooking. Spy necessary ,I think. PENNY AND A COUPLE OF OTHERS MAKE LIFE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!thankyou.

Extermely Poor Customer Service | Panera Bread review from Seattle, Washington

Where to start? How about today with the online ordering down still at 10:30 AM on a Sunday. Go stand in line waiting for 1 cashier to take your order when there is a line out the door or pray the website comes up before lunch. Not really customer friendly. Maybe it is just this facility in Renton Washington. This location does not do a good job representing what used to be a premier name is quality food. 2 weeks ago the computers crashed and for 2 days there was no ability to take any type of transaction other than cash! To make it worse this location hires people that have difficulty in basic human relations (listening, talking or acknowledging you are there). It is terribly frustrating but does give me opportunity to explore options!

Sounds like you're one of those customers "that have difficulty in basic human relations".

I don't understand why people who are in a hurry get angry about long slow lines. If it bothers you so much go somewhere else, if you want it so bad and refuses to leave then you have no right to complain.

You're stuck like the rest of us so accept it and chill out.

I saw the site was down too and instead of risking my lunch break by driving over and standing in line I got my lunch elsewhere. Online ordering is a courtesy, which I am sure the company earns more revenue for having it, so being angry about it does not change the company's priority for getting it up and running.

You took a gamble, hit rush hour, and wasted your own time. The location was probably understaffed, but I hope for that poor cashier sake you had half a brain to complain to the manager about their scheduling abilities.

Panera Bread is overpriced, sub-par slop. Don't kid yourself into believing their food is high quality; it's not.

They are a huge corporation that is all about the profits and not about feeding you well. You'd do better at a privately-owned lunch stand.
