Verified ReviewerNot so good experience
Good morning-
I am little disturbed with the customer service I received at your location on 2849 Jessup RD, Jessup MD. I arrived today (02/14/24) at approximately 6:07 am to purchase an everything bagel from this location.
The young man whom greeted me professionally with a smile, told me that he could not sale me a bagel at this time. He was just informed by his manager on duty that all the bagels they currently have are reserved. I was confused even shocked. I assumed the young man was being friendly and was telling a joke.
Boy was I wrong! He then went on to say they have to make some more but the bagels that were behind him in plain sight was reserved. Why not have enough bagels for online orders and walk-ins?? My disturbance comes in because I am here in your view to purchase 1 bagel and I can not purchase a bagel because the bagels within view are all reserved, but I can wait until another batch is baked, when the reserved customer was not even in the store?
I was the only customer in line when I was told basically sorry I can't sale you a bagel because the reserved party who was not present at the time has reserved these bagels. This is asinine. Is this Panera Bread customer service??? I have never experienced any thing like this at any other Panera Bread location.
I 've done catering and personal orders at this particular location frequently. For you to dismiss me because someone dropped the ball on making sure adequately enough food was prepared for walk-ins, catering, and online orders is unacceptable. Not only was I inconvenience because I had to drive to find breakfast elsewhere but I was also annoyed by the not so great customer service. Panera you have to do better.
I have known from previous years that you all strive to give great customer service. This location did not show that at all.
- Great food options
- Customer service and experience
- Wait time in drive through
Preferred solution: Better customer service at this location.

Verified Reviewer | Elk Grove, CaliforniaIncident of Assault
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern about an incident that occurred at your Panera location on Laguna Blvd by Big Bear Diner yesterday, February 11, 2024. While waiting for my order, I was unexpectedly struck in the head with a duster by one of your employees, who happened to be a white woman.
This incident was not only shocking but also completely unacceptable.
Not only did the employee fail to apologize or acknowledge her actions, but her negligence resulted in physical harm to me. As a result of the blow to my head, I woke up this morning with a persistent headache and a noticeable knot on my head.
I must emphasize the seriousness of this matter. Customers should never be subjected to such treatment, and it is imperative that your staff exercise caution and professionalism at all times. Physical contact of any kind, especially without warning or apology, is utterly inappropriate and goes against the basic principles of customer service and workplace safety.
I urge you to take immediate action to address this issue and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
This may include conducting thorough training sessions for your staff on proper customer interaction and workplace conduct.
Additionally, please ensure that appropriate disciplinary measures are taken with regards to the employee involved in this incident.
I trust that you will handle this matter with the seriousness and urgency it warrants. As a loyal customer of Panera, I sincerely hope that steps will be taken to rectify this situation and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.
I kindly request a prompt response to this complaint and assurance that measures are being implemented to prevent such incidents from occurring again.

- Getting assaulted
Preferred solution: To have that employees actions look at as assault and have it handled properly.
User's recommendation: Don’t do it at the one on Bond Road in Elk Grove or you might be assaulted.

Verified Reviewer | San Diego, CaliforniaPanera Employees Should Not Get $20 Per Hour
My experience there has been that they are lazy, sloppy and unprofessional. Rarely a cashier at the register when you walk in.
No greeting. Sold out of many items and do not make more so they stand around for hours doing nothing and getting paid for doing nothing. Legitimate requests are ignored with a smile. They do not deserve even the $16 per hour.
I hope the owner reconsiders. There are so many flaws with Panera. Needs much better store management and employees who care, not with a sense of ego, entitlement and who are unprofessional. Why pay them more just to cost the ownership money by not taking care of the customers, baking more as needed, and lounging around lazily.
I would get rid of them and replace them with robots if that's the situation. Several employees there need to be dusted off for non-movement and not working, anyway. Terrible store policy and attitude.
Close down the underperforming stores and get some performers in there. 225 Broadway store in San Diego is a disgrace!
- Food tastes good when they actually have some to sell
- Laziness
- Prices are way too high
- Competitors have better products for lower prices

Verified ReviewerResolved: The worst customer experience i have ever had
At my location in Washington, Mo the cutomer sercice has gotten worse the last couple of years. The biggest problem I have is in having to tract someone down to take my order.
The gal that usually takes my order is not the friendliest. Usually no hi, bye, or thank you. The prices have gotten way too high for me to now have to place my own order on the kiosk. Food has been good, ahould be for the price, but they are often out of things.
I ran restaurants for 25 years and being out of a product was the Rare exception, not a commen occurrence. Seems like things are being done to save money and that's it is all about the profit. I often drive to a further location. I know you can do better, just have a cashier, don't run out of product, keep the dining room cleaner and focus on friendliness and customer sercice than profit.
If you do that think you will make a profit and keep more customers. Focus more on customer service at this location.
- Good food when made correctly
- Absolute lack of cleanliness and sercice
Preferred solution: Apology

Little kid they can only order and cook a certain amount of bagels. and the ones who reserved the bagels could come in any minute.
The bagels you saw "in view" had no doubt obviously been purchased by someone who made an online order. The employees hadn't had the opportunity to box them yet, would be my best guess.
So no, you didn't have dibs on a bagel that someone had already paid for!!! Nice try though!
Wow! This is what customer service has come too. I pray you are not a team member at this location.
Little girl they are most likely not a team member. If someone already paid for the bagels why should you. I pray that your parents teach you values and manners.
What is up with people ASSuming you work at a business, just because you comment on their complaint?! This is a public complaint forum for people to complain about any company!!!
No dearie, I don't work at Panera! I thought it was common sense that if you are told the bagels were spoken for, someone had already ordered and paid via the online app.
If I was that person and was short a bagel because they sold one to you, there would be a problem. I guess this was the first time someone told princess Tia no!
Dang! Life that bad for you. Have a blessed day!
